iOS 6 Untethered iPhone 5 Jailbreak Weeks Away

While the iOS-based jailbreak fans have been waiting patiently for an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak, there have been a few leaks on the web providing the anticipated jailbreak, most of which has turned out to be fake. Now, new reports are stating that an official untethered jailbreak might arrive in a few weeks, although it was previously stated that it would arrive in a few days.

However, the major talking point here is the final arrival of the jailbreak and it is now being reported that the development of the jailbreak is still in progress. Fans who are still waiting to unlock their phones may have to wait a bit longer before the final and official copy of the jailbreak is released, which could be considered a bad news. While some say that the jailbreak will take weeks to arrive, others think it could also take months.

“Recently we’ve been hearing increased chatter about an iOS 6.01 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5, and it is fair to say that most people in the jailbreaking community know about these iOS 6 jailbreak websites claiming to have an untethered version for iPhone 5 and 4S, so warning more seasoned jailbreakers is a waste of time, although we recommend any newbies to pay attention to these warnings of scams,” a Product Reviews report states. “There is also proof that you shouldn’t expect an iOS 6 untethered jailbreak for weeks that could run into months, and you’re unlikely to see anything in a matter of days, which is proven by some tweets from those in the know.”

The news was officially reported first by Product Reviews and could easily be considered a disappointment for those who were expecting a jailbreak as early as last Monday. However, when it was reported that a partial jailbreak had been accomplished by Chronic Dev team member Joshua Hill, also known as posixninja on Twitter, people thought that they would be able to free their phones no later than Black Friday

Hill, however, has now cleared all misconceptions and has announced that the process has been much slower than ever due to heavier iOS 6 protections and security measures.

“the protections in iOS6 are ridiculous… it surpasses any OS ever created… it will be a long slow process,” Hill tweeted.

Hill is known for being the mind behind important Jailbreak tools such as GreenPois0n and more recently Absinthe. He left the Chronic Dev Team at the end of last July.
