Here we go again, talking about Pokemon Go's success. Yes, the app has been very successful from day one, with a few minor bumps last July having a huge player dip, but we're okay. The game is still hype, somehow. There's this saying, I forgot where I got it, but it goes something like, if you are having so much success in a short period of time, prepare also for abrupt deceleration.
Apparently Niantic Labs is doing whatever they can to prepare for a possible quick downfall. This is why they have promised for constant updates for Pokemon Go. This is not just for the fans to be constantly happy, it's for the provider to sustain player pools that keep the game alive. Among its efforts are the Buddy System, The Pokemon Go Plus, and other notable features.
Today, Pokemon Go is having its first event, changing the games theme to Halloween. The theme change started Oct. 26. This event certainly has saved Pokemon Go from having its player pool dipping down again. Even Otakukart.com and The Verge post that Halloween have probably saved the game, for now. I would guess that by adapting to the seasons, the next target would be Christmas?
If you haven't had the update yet, wait a few hours or days, it's probably from some bottleneck at the server due to the millions of subscribers and only a handful can be updated at a time.
What's with the Halloween theme?
Pokemon Go will be giving away more candy than usual when catching, hatching, even when transferring Pokemon. It is Halloween after all, right? Aside from that, the loading page changed to Halloween theme as well. On top of these, seven spooky but cute Pokemon will be haunting you wherever you go, technically just spawn rates and location for these Pokemon have increased and widened respectively for the time being.
What are the seven spooky Pokemon?
It wouldn't be hard to tell since they will be popping out wherever you go. The seven abundant Pokemon for the Halloween season are: Golbat, Gastly, Zubat, Haunter, Grengar, Hypno, and Drowzee. It's good that you have these all over the place when you just want to catch them and trade right away for candy but this is bad news for those hunting specific Pokemon other than the 7 spooky ones as they tend to be a distraction on the PokeMap. The Halloween event can also boost up your Poison, Ghost, and Psychic type medals, so after the event, you will have decreased trouble catching these types of Pokemon when encountered in the wild.
Trick or treat with Pokemon Go
Aside from the attractive candy bonus and abundance of spooky Pokemon, the Halloween event is also a great way to hunt Pokemon while going trick or treating. If you're an adult, then you can certainly accompany your young ones - I mean your kids or cousin or nephew whichever; while they go collect candies, you can collect your Pokemon. You fill up your Pokemon and item inventory and at the same time doing these kids a favor.
Walking also gives Buddy Pokemon candy and good news is that you can now earn four times. This means that you can power up or evolve that rare Buddy Pokemon of yours faster so get those shoes on and start walking. You can buy Pokemon Halloween costumes here.
