iPhone 7 vs iPhone 6S: Which Apple iPhone Is Better For Your Preference?

Apple's latest smartphone is the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. It was introduced this September and the new iPhone 7 has the same 4.7 in and 5.5 in screen sizes as before. For the history, it's the first iPhone to be offered without a headphone jack. This means that if you're considering an upgrade you'll be reliant on adaptors or lightning port ready headphones in order to listen to music or talk to someone without using wired earphones.

With the help of The Week, here is a quick comparison of Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S. Know here what Apple smartphone will suit your preference.

Design and Size

If you really want a really entire new design, note that there are just a few changes on iPhone 7 and 7 Plus compared to the iPhone 6S. They also use the same aluminum unibody casings and have the same curved sides and corners. The only noticeable differences are the repositioned antenna bands and the altered camera layouts.

Apple has also done away with the Space Grey color option and replaced it with Black as well as another Jet Black color variant with a gloss finish. The other major changes is its Home key, which is now a capacitive, touch-sensitive panel rather than a physical button. It has a Haptic feedback engine and can perform a range of software functions, including the Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

The design may not look new but Apple's new iPhone is more durable than its predecessors. The phone has an IP67 water and dust resistance rating and can be immersed in water up to a meter deep for up to 30 minutes without risk of damage. This means that in practical terms, dropping your new iPhone in the sink won't be the disaster it once was.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S (and iPhone 6) are almost identical, according to Forbes.

iPhone 7 – 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm (5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 in) and 138 g (4.87 oz)
iPhone 6S – 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm (5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 in) and 143 g (5.04 oz)

Display

The display technology is not that different on the whole, with the big change over to OLED expected for 2017. Apple has kept the 3D Touch functionality, of course, and has implemented a 25% increase in brightness as well as the P3 wide color gamut. These small updates do go a long way and Display Mate says it's the best LCD screen it's ever tested.

Camera

The iPhone 7 comes with significant camera improvements.

Compared to the iPhone 6S, the camera fitted to the iPhone 7 is still a 12-megapixel sensor capable of 4K video recording, but this time it features Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) to combat shaky hands and jolts. The lens is also wider and can let in up to 60 percent more light than on the camera of iPhone 6S.

The iPhone 7 Plus gets a dual camera system – there are two of the same megapixel sensors and one of them is a telephoto lens for optical zoom capabilities. On the front of both phones, the FaceTime cameras have been bumped up to 7MP from 5MP, so selfie fans will be pleased.
