It has been eight years since the last season finale for "Prison Break" aired and Michael Scofield's (Wentworth Miller) return is a pleasant albeit puzzling surprise. The season 4 finale showed Michael sacrificing his life to save Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies). Miller dropped hints that Michael has changed over the years and he may not be the Michael that Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), Sara, and the rest of the crew knew.
"Prison Break" Season 5 Updates
"Prison Break" season 5 preview shows T-bag (Robert Knepper) telling Lincoln that his brother is not dead but only stuck in a prison in Yemen. The main goal for the upcoming season is to get Michael out of Ogygia Prison and bring him home. However, this could be the trickiest mission that they have ever embarked on since they don't know whom to trust.
Michael is mixed up with the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) and even if Lincoln breaks him out of jail, they still need to get safely out of Yemen. Unfortunately, William Fichtner, who plays the role of Alexander Mahone, won't be back for the new season. Agent Mahone played a good role in the past seasons, thus his absence will be noted in the upcoming season.
Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) will be joining the rescue mission. The official Facebook page for "Prison Break" even teased a picture of Sucre during filming.
"Prison Break" Gets Inspiration From "Fast And Furious"
"Prison Break" remains true to its core theme - family. This is the same theme that is prevalent in "Fast and Furious." One of the teasers also shows Lincoln in a car chase scene. The new season supposedly takes its inspiration from "The Odyssey," and it will be a quest for Michael to make his way home. However, the Michael that fans so loved might not be the same.
After being absent for several years, things may have changed and this includes Michael's ways. He might not be the same Michael that tried to save Lincoln from Fox River and certainly not the man Sara fell in love with. However, blood will out and there's no denying that Lincoln would do anything to get Michael out.
"Prison Break" reboot has been renewed for nine episodes and although there's no schedule yet, it's likely that the premiere episode will be out in spring of 2017. Fox already released the schedule for their winter premiere and the show is notably absent from the list. Thus, it is likely that "Prison Break" season 5 will be out in April 2017.
