Goodbye Apple iPhone 8; Hello Apple iPhone SE 2017

Apple is a company that always sets trends for others to follow. But when it comes to display, let us admit that Apple actually followed the trend established by Samsung and others smartphone company.

Rumors said that Apple will launch the iPhone SE 2017 first before the iPhone 8. Maybe the company believes that it will be better to release a smaller one since the newly-released iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are larger.

iPhone SE is a smartphone released by Apple with the same size as the iPhone 5s but the same features as the iPhone 6 or 6s. Two years ago, Apple introduced iPhones with larger screens, ignoring the sizeable chunk of the population that still prefers the good old 4-inch display phones. When many Apple loyalists expressed disappointment at Apple launching large 5-inch display phones, Apple decided to launch the 4-inch display iPhone SE. That didn’t mean Apple compromised on the hardware. In fact, Apple launched the iPhone SE with specs that match iPhone 6s, albeit the absence of 3D Touch support, according to MobiPicker.

Despite the Apple on targeting to go for a design uniformity across products, it would make sense see an updated iPhone SE version with the slightly larger screen in the same body. It would also be great to have it updated since there are new flagship smartphones.

According to BGR, the iPhone SE does ship without 3D Touch support, so it’s not a faithful miniaturized version of the iPhone 6s. Costs concerns are likely to blame, as Apple is also looking to make money on the smallest and cheapest iPhone in its lineup.

There are several discussions, rumors and posts online that introduce the concept of all-screen iPhone SE. The popular among all of them is the concept by DBS Designing, which has re-imagined the iPhone SE with an all-screen support.
