If there's a game that has acquired a lot of talks this year, it's no other than Hello Games' No Man's Sky. From all the hiccups the title is experiencing, it's hard to say what its future might be like. And sure enough, the studio's (and even Sean Murray) decision to keep silent isn't doing them a huge favor. Of course, with what's happening, it's hard for Sony to turn a deaf ear. Fortunately, one of the company's exec named Shawn Layden has finally commented on the ongoing crisis.
According to GameSpot, the aforementioned PlayStation executive apparently made an appearance on Live with YouTube Gaming to discuss a couple of topics. Obviously, it's hard to veer away from all the No Man's Sky subjects. Here, Layden shared his own two cents as well as the current status quo of the title.
For Layden, the developers of No Man's Sky -- Murray in particular -- happens to have an "incredible vision." That the people from Hello Games know exactly what they want to do. However, as to what kept them from achieving that goal, it's the fact that NMS is something they haven't done in the industry. Let alone that the studio is relatively small (with a huge ambition).
It's worth noting that No Man's Sky was first released in August for PS4. After a days, it was unleashed to the PC platform. Unfortunately, it didn't get a good reception. Many players noticed that most, if not all, of the features discussed by Murray in events were not present in the finish product. Hence they were criticized ever since.
Layden acknowledged that indeed No Man's Sky didn't quite deliver what was promised. Nonetheless, the studio is said to be "working at it." The Sony executive reassured the fans that the video game company is trying their best to reach the vision they established at day one.
At the end of the day, Layden praised Hello Games for bringing No Man's Sky into reality. That the ambition -- albeit being too big for them -- to create it alone is already an achievement. It's just sad that things happen differently. And, as per his own words: "You just don't get all the way there are at the first go."
