All right, I'm sorry. I really am. This will be the third article in as few days about yet another technical problem we've experienced through the flimsy auspices of Twitter. I was well on my way to writing a completely different article about something wholly unrelated, but when I tried to access (one of) my Twitter account(s), I received this merry error message accompanied by a fickle robot alien thing straight out of Paul Frank: "Something is technically wrong. Thanks for noticing - we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."
What, are you kidding, Twitter? You can't keep doing this to us. I'm remembering - for there's hardly much else memorable about the execrable film - The Social Network, when the perennially glowering Jesse Eisenberg-as-perennially-shit-eating-grin-Mark-Zuckerberg phone-reams his Facebook co-founder for potentially allowing the site to go down, reminding "Duardo" that not going down is an all-too-important necessity in this ridiculously hyperkinetic cyber society in which we live today.
Checking back again on my Twitter account, and there's that o-faced Anime robo-alien creature with his tentacles (?) in a perfectly symmetrical shrug. Going to Twitter's status page, I discover two things: 1) Yet another whoops-a-doodle mea culpa by the site: "Some users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue," 2) That there were further such postings on Monday the 21st and Wednesday the 16th.
Fine. Nobody's perfect.
But, as previously stated, this service interruption is not the first such issue we've had with Twitter this week. Just yesterday, I relayed the news of Twitter's announced "enhancements" as regards our now being able to - oh, joy - see a larger version of posted pictures without having to switch pages and - oh, joy-joy - the fact that partners such as Amazon and NBC are allowing you to see more in one tweet than ever before.
Twitter also made sure to mention that their new Vine video app (allowing users to see/share a six-second video loop a la an animated gif) is up and running after five days of being live with problems ranging from "porn issues" to disabling of necessary functions.
I hinted in my aforementioned article this "enhancements announcement" may have really been Twitter trying its might to do a bit of damage control from their almost daily Vine mess-ups. Which was something else I wrote about the day before (because, well, it happened).
So, within the time I've spewed out these frantic words of disenchantment with Twitter, I check again and find - oh, joy-joy-joy, double-joy - they're back up. Confessedly, sure: Just a few minutes of not being able to tweet my last article today.
But, the real kerfuffle is: What about tomorrow, Twitter?
UPDATE: After submitting this article but before its being posted, Twitter is already down again. Go figure.
