As we all know, the new Survival DLC of Tom Clancy's The Division is already out on PC testers today. This time, Ubisoft had turned their open-world multiplayer into an intense survival game. Here is everything we know about the Survival DLC.
Tom Clancy's The Division Survival DLC Plot
The game is set in the frozen New York City that starts with players having little to no gear. You were sent by the Division along with your team to recover antiviral drugs in Manhattan, however, the helicopter you were in crashed into the snowstorm and scattered everyone into the map. This is where the "Survival" takes place. From there on, you need to continue the mission to acquire the antivirals and get it to safety.
Tom Clancy's The Division Survival DLC Gameplay
Twenty-four players with starting gears consist only of green items and pistols are going to fight with their main enemy - not players but the natural forces. The Survival DLC features hunger and thirst mechanics thus players need to search for food and items to keep them alive as they walk their way into the Dark Zone. Similar to other survival games, crafting and searching for resources to keep your body warm and nourished are essential in the game.
The game lasts for about two hours and if you die before getting extracted, it's game over, unless you are revived by another player. Your main goal is to get the antivirals in the Dark Zone and extract yourself with a helicopter. All 24 players are in the open-world map; group matchmaking is available as well as solo matchmaking.
As you progress and gets nearer, you'll acquire better items like canned goods and crafting materials for better weapons to kill tougher enemies. Take note that in the last part of the game where you can finally extract yourself, there are Hunters that will try to kill you. The game can be played in PvE or PvP mode.
A bunch of new stuff was added to the game like weapons and high-end items with special perks. Full patch notes can be read here. For more detailed information, visit this Reddit thread.
