Samsung is getting closer to the launch of another major smartphone, its Galaxy S8. What features can we expect from the next generation flagship device?
Galaxy S8's Features
While the South Korean tech giant hasn't shared many details, in recent weeks have surfaced credible rumors suggesting that the Galaxy S8 smartphone will come with a redesigned case featuring a massive screen and cutting-edge display technology. The upcoming flagship mobile device will also feature an industry-leading processing power. According to eWeek, the Samsung Galaxy might have a price tag that could put significant pressure on competitors.
It seems that the South Korean high-tech company wants to stage a strong comeback with the next generation Galaxy S8. In order that to happen, Samsung is willing to pack the new model with the most desirable features. According to PC Advisor, despites Samsung's recent issues with the Note 7's recall, the Galaxy S7 is still the best phone you can buy. And the South Korean tech company's upcoming Galaxy S8 will likely help it to overcome Note 7 debacle.
The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 generates many rumors and speculations. The latest rumor speculates that Samsung would discontinue its Galaxy edge model for a Galaxy S8 Plus model that will be launched on the market in early 2017.
Based on a report published by Korea's The Bell, the standard Galaxy S8, internally coded SM-G950 by Samsung, will feature a 5.7-inch screen. The Galaxy S8 Plus model, codenamed SM-G955, will feature a giant 6.2-inch screen. Both smartphones will come with a dual curved-edge screen.
The brand new design of the Galaxy S8 will include an all-glass face that will eliminate the Samsung Home Button, replaced by a capacitive touch button sitting behind the smartphone's glass. Latest rumors have suggested that Samsung could offer an AI button in the Galaxy S8. The button would activate a digital virtual assistant that aims to help users with their everyday tasks.
Galaxy S8's Launch Date
Usually Samsung favors the months of February and March to launch a new flagship Galaxy S mobile device for the current year. Around two to four weeks afterwards, the new smartphones are typically released on sale in the shops. This launch rhythm is followed by the South Korean high-tech company because of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), a phone- and tablet-focused tech show. Samsung is announcing each year the new devices at its Unpacked press conference.
Unless the South Korean tech giant decides to change its tradition, we can expect that the Galaxy S8 will be announced at MWC 2017 that is scheduled to run from Feb. 27 to Mar. 2. It is most likely that the Galaxy S8 will be announced on Feb. 26, the day before the show starts.
However, after Samsung's reputation suffered due to its problems with the now-discontinued Note 7, some tech analysts speculate that the company will push back the launch date as far as April 2017. This might be necessary for the tech company in order to have enough time to conduct more thorough testing. However, the company really needs to come with a highly innovative Galaxy S8 in order to win back fans.
