As the 10th iPhone anniversary celebration is nearing, rumors on Apple releasing the iPhone 8 next year is all about social networks. When the next generation iPhone 8 ships, two new colors will apparently be included in its portfolio. A new blue option will be among these, and a glossier version of the existing gray, possibly referred to as space black, is also predicted.
Expected Features
Aside from the new color, MacRumors also reported on the expected features. Here it is!
- OLED display
- Faster A11 processor
- Glass body
- Edge-to-edge display
- Camera and Touch ID integrated into display
- No Home button
- Wireless charging
- Three models - One OLED, two standard
Unique Design
Many rumors suggest the new Apple iPhone 8 is going to be a radical and unique design. As reported by Forbes, it is about a bezel-less display design with a screen size of 5.8 inches (up from the 7 Plus’ 5.5 inches). That larger model would also use an OLED display, a first for an iPhone. (Note: as a reader astutely points out, the actual dimensions of the 5.8-inch iPhone may not be much bigger than the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus because of the bezel-less design.)
It’s still very early so those display sizes are not “100% locked down” but Barclays Research, analysts talked to sources within Apple’s supply chain during a trip to Asia, believes the trend for Apple is to move to larger screen sizes and curved edges (possibly not unlike the Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge)
Release Date
There is no official announcement from Apple yet. But since 2017 will be a great year for the company because of the 10th iPhone anniversary, they might release an added series of smartphones to their existing phones, and that is the Apple iPhone 8.
According to University Herald, as Apple is currently negotiating with LG and Samsung as well as Foxconn-owned Sharp for the OLED panel supplies, the presumed iPhone 8 is expected to hit the store shelves according to the Cupertino giant's scheduled release date.
