From the day it was announced that the phenomenal vampire-human romance flick "Twilight" might get a reboot soon, fans have been theorizing non-stop as to how the franchise will tackle the follow-up on Edward and Bella's love story.
If you're a die-hard fan, you're probably rooting for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart reunion in the supposed remake. However, don't get your hopes too high yet as numerous reports claim that the odds are quite low. Considering the current situation of its actors, will their epic love story pushes through in the supposed "Twilight" remake?
Ian Somerhalder And Nina Dobrev, The New Edward Cullen And Bella Swan?
Recently, rumors are rife that "The Vampire Diaries" duo Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev might replace Pattinson and Stewart in the anticipated "Twilight" reboot. Given that Somerhalder and Dobrev both starred in what can be considered as the pioneer of human-vampire love story, they are actually fit to do the roles.
Back when Dobrev decided to leave "The Vampire Diaries" series, it was rumored that she was looking for good movie roles that would boost her career. One of her top choices is the "Twilight" franchise. There were even reports that Dobrev expressed a great deal of interest and admiration to the movie and the characters associated with it.
During an interview with MTV, Dobrev commented about "Twilight" and has nothing but good words about the film. "I think that we're all really happy for each other. I'm very happy that they exist because we exist because of them. Their success is our success. I'm kind of sad the movies are almost over." Dobrev revealed. "Kellan [Lutz], Ashley [Greene] and the whole group-we all run in the same circles," the actress added.
Meanwhile, Somerhalder was also rumored to replace Pattinson in the "Twilight" reboot considering that his wife, Nikki Reed, portrays the role of Rosalie Hale in the franchise. It is believed that the actor will definitely fit to play the role given his experience in "The Vampire Diaries" and the undeniable chemistry with his ex-girlfriend Dobrev.
However, the alleged inclusion of Dobrev and Somerhalder in "Twilight" reboot has not been confirmed yet. With the new season of "The Vampire Diaries" currently ongoing, the idea might be a bit far-fetched considering the actors' hectic schedule.
Will There Really Be A "Twilight" Reboot In The Making?
Before we get all too excited, it's worth noting that the alleged "Twilight" reboot has not been given the green light yet. Sure, fans have been rooting for it but the decision still lies with its producers and of course, author Stephenie Meyer.
Previously, it was reported that Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger revealed that he is open to the possibility of having another "Twilight" installment if the opportunity arises.
"It's a possibility. Not a certainty but it's a possibility. It's about Stephenie [novelist Stephenie Meyer]. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we're here for her." Wachsberger said in an interview with Screen Daily.
However, the famed author Stephenie Meyer doesn't seem optimistic about the idea. In an earlier interview, the brains behind "Twilight" confirmed that she is "over" about the movie and its characters. "I get further away [from Twilight] every day," Meyer said. "For me, it's not a happy place to be."
Despite this, Meyer clarified that she won't rule out ever writing about "Twilight" again, saying, "What I would probably do is three paragraphs on my blog saying which of the characters died." She also added that "I'm interested in spending time in other worlds, like Middle-Earth."
With this, many speculate that Meyer would only consider returning to the "Twilight" world only when its main characters, Edward and Bella, will be eliminated. This brings us back to Somerhalder and Dobrev being the possible replacements in case it comes to fruition. Who knows right?
Robert Pattinson Is Keen About "Twilight" Reboot But Kristen Stewart... Nah!
Perhaps if there's someone who's excited about the alleged "Twilight" reboot, that would be its main characters as it will be another opportunity to boost their careers. There were reports that Pattinson is very excited upon hearing the news of a possible installment of the movie. Rumors claim that the actor considers it as a career saver.
"[Robert Pattinson] is more likely to come back if they make more Twilight films because he thinks it would re-spark his career, where Kristen [Stewart] wants to stay away from the franchise because she thinks of it as high school and she feels that she has graduated onto other opportunities that are more her right now. But if they pull up the Brinks truck to both of them they would highly consider it, because especially in Hollywood, money talks."
On the other hand, Stewart doesn't seem as eager as his former flame and co-star. In a recent interview, the actress recalled her experiences in filming the movie and dubbed it as an "awkward" moment in her life.
"I don't jump right back into those memories but as soon as you see pictures, you're like 'Oh God, it's like yesterday,'" the actress quipped. "It was something I was really invested in, mattered to so many people. It was something personal [that] became not the most personal thing. Which is awesome, because to share something like that is great, but at the same time, I was 17 or 18 when it all went down, and that's kind of the most uncomfortable, weird [time]... It forced me to stand at attention in a way. Who knows if I didn't have that," Stewart continued.
So far, there has been no official confirmation about the "Twilight" reboot. In case there is, it also hasn't been confirmed whether Pattinson and Stewart will reprise their roles or if Somerhalder and Dobrev will replace them.
