Season 15 of "Family Guy" is reported to finally show Meg coming out and admitting she is a lesbian. Showrunner Alec Sulkin explains that the show needs to reinvent their characters from time to time and Meg is definitely one of them. Meanwhile, Sulkin also admits the show is going through rating problems and they're doing what they can to improve it.
In the series of "Family Guy", Meg always seem to be unlucky with boys and it looks like the reason is because she's a lesbian. However, Sulkin explains that all her failed relationship is not just because she is a lesbian, there could be a deeper reason for it and the show could tackle on that in the future. "There's one story we have, it's by no means final, but it would involve Meg coming out as a lesbian." He said.
If viewers can recall back in Season 4, "Family Guy" showed Stewie traveling into the future and discovering Meg has become a transgender and will then be known as Ron. Although the show was only playing with the idea of Meg being a transgender but it could actually fit in the overall storyline if the show decides to make Meg come out.
If the show does decide on revamping Meg's character, it actually goes with their plan in restructuring the show to improve ratings. Earlier reports about "Family Guy" has mentioned that the show is going through some rating problems and Sulkin has recently confirmed the rumor.
In one of Sulkin's interview, he said, "Regarding the plots, a lot of times the first act is disconnected from the rest of the show. We call that the first-act mislead." This is something that "Family Guy" has been doing for the longest of time and it looks like they will have to change certain aspects of the show to make it more relatable to their audience.
