Google Home Will Sell For Only $99 On Black Friday

For those too busy (or lazy) to do simple tasks such as make reservations, check the weather news or turn the volume up when listening to music may want his or her own digital assistant.

Luckily for these people, Google is there to lend a hand.

The Google Home speaker will now cost only $99 during the Black Friday festivities. That's $30 off or 23 percent cheaper than its usual retail price of $129.

Google Home is the company's answer to the likes of Amazon Echo and SoundHound Hurricane. Amazon's Alexa which can be integrated into the Echo was first introduced around three years ago. SoundHound, meanwhile, is relatively new to the scene. That said, Amazon is the closest competitor of Google Home.

According to Craig Johnson, president of Consumer Growth Partners, "There's clearly some overlap between the Echo and Google Home. I'm not convinced people have room for both devices in their lives."

Los Angeles Times think that this year's Black Friday and the holiday season will make or break digital home assistants such as Google Assistant and Alexa.

Even though Echo and Alexa have been at it far longer than Google Home, consumers are still not fully sold on the technology and the devices that carry it. As mentioned by LA Times, the companies need to convince consumers that their products are "more than just a novelty". After which, they also need to convince the public that their product is better than the other.

The huge discount on the Google Home will go a long way in securing digital assistant's place in the industry and in consumers' homes for that matter.

According to BGR, the $99 Google Home is currently available on the company's official website. The device will also be available at the discounted price over at Best Buy on Black Friday.
