Selena Gomez Reveals Her Source Of Strength During Her Toughest Moment

Finally, Selena Gomez breaks her silence following her hiatus from the spotlight and openly discusses her journey to self-healing. The “Same Old Love” hit maker revealed how she remained strong amid adversities that took her to a roller coaster ride of overwhelming emotions.

Per Thrive Global, the young superstar shared a quote that fuels her strength during her darkest moments.

“You are not what happened to you, you are what you chose to become after what happened to you.”

She also admitted her detachment from her mobile device in the course of her three months off from the entertainment industry.

”I recently took 90 days off. During that time I did not have my cellphone. It was the most refreshing, calming, rejuvenating feeling. Now I rarely pick up my phone, and only limited people have access to me.”

To recall, Selena’s surprising cancellation of her worldwide “Revival Tour” came after her diagnosis of Lupus, a medical condition that affects her physical and mental state. Her depression was also allegedly blamed on her ex-boyfriend and fellow singer Justin Bieber.

"As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges," Selena said.

Gomez was also dragged in various controversies despite her stay in the rehab facility. A source noted that the pop singer was too desperate to leave the medical center.

"She absolutely hates it there. Everyone is worried. Everyone's just hoping Selena gets better," a source said.

Selena did not validate the said allegation and continued to keep her silence. Her first public appearance took place in the recently concluded American Music Awards. She delivered a heartfelt speech after receiving her first AMA award.

"I think it's safe to say most of you know my life whether I liked it or not. And I had to stop. Because I had everything. And I was absolutely broken inside. I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down."
