The Last of Us Part 2 trailer unveiled during the PlayStation Experience 2016 last weekend had definitely put the audience in awe. After several months of speculating, Naughty Dog finally confirmed their award-winning game sequel to come soon.
Though The Last of Us Part 2 didn't really have a concrete release date as of yet, we sure can't help but analyze the emotional scenes in the epic reveal teaser. In fact, some of The Last of Us fans believe that they have already cracked the upcoming title's story.
Aside from the fact that Naughty Dog has confirmed that Ellie will be the main protagonist of The Last of Us Part 2 (and she is at most 19 years old at this timeline), the said Part 2 is probably going to focus on "Hate".
In The Last of Us Part 2 PSX trailer, we are introduced to an older, full-of-scars Ellie seated in a bed in a room strumming her guitar while singing. However, she wasn't entirely alone, we can see a dead body sprawled on the floor. Cue Joel, The Last of Us main protagonist, walking through the corpse-filled house until he sees Ellie in the room.
What's notable at this point is that Joel can only be heard from behind and his face was never shown. This particular scene made gamers and theorists (game theorists) to think that Joel is most likely dead in The Last of Us 2. Ellie talking to Joel? That's probably Ellie's hallucination or in a way, how she copes sadness and loneliness.
Others believe Joel can be a "guide from beyond". Others also speculated that Fireflies probably had something to do with Joel's death and the angry, older version of Ellie is seeking revenge.
What do you think about this The Last of Us 2 theory? Does it make sense? Do you think The Last of Us Part 2 will have a revenge theme as well? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments section below!
