George R.R. Martin Admits 'The Winds Of Winter' Is Darker Than Expected, Here's The Reason Why
In the recent interview with George R.R. Martin, the author gave a glimpse of what everyone could expect in the book that would be released in the near future. Martin blatantly revealed that there would be darker chapters in 'The Winds Of Winter' than his other masterpiece. He told:
"Yeah, that [a preview chapter from the book] is a dark chapter. But there are a lot of dark chapters right now in the book that I'm writing. It is called The Winds of Winter, and I've been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming. Winter is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fills the world, so this is not gonna be the happy feel-good that people may be hoping for. Some of the characters [are] in very dark places...In any story, the classic structure is, 'Things get worse before they get better,' so things are getting worse for a lot of people."
Also he admitted that the story will not meet everyone's expectations as it will promote a not-feel good kind of storyline. Those viewers who expects the book to be a fairytale type should change their perspective as Martin admits that the book would have produce a 'bittersweet' result.
