Casey Affleck, star of "Manchester by the Sea" and a native of Cambridge hosted this week's episode of the "Saturday Night Live"
In a parody commercial, Affleck exclaimed, "I [expletive] love Dunkin', guy!" He was wearing a flannel, a Bruins cap and a characteristic Boston accent.
"I'm like the mayor of Dunkin'. This is the face of Dunkin' Donuts right here," continued Affleck. "You want to talk real customers?" said a younger Affleck said while holding his cigarette while standing outside the restuarant. "Kid, that's me, I'm like the mayor of Dunkin's. This is the face of Dunkin' Donuts right here."
A manager approached Affleck and reprimanded him about not smoking inside Dunkin'. Affleck sarcastically argued back, "I'm not smoking in here," in between puffs. Affleck later claimed that the best part of the day is when he is at Dunkin'. He then threw a cup of coffee at a passing car. The commercial ends with a voice over saying "Go back to Starbucks".
Casey Affleck began his career as a child actor, appearing in the PBS television movie Lemon Sky. Later on, he appeared in Gus Van Sant's films, in Steven Soderbergh's comedy heist movie Ocean's Eleven (2001) and its sequels, Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007).
Affleck's breakthrough came in 2007, as he starred in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. This movie garnered him an Academy Award nomination as a Best Supporting Actor. He also starred in Gone Baby Gone directed by his brother Ben Affleck.
This weekend's episode of Saturday Night Live certainly proves that it won't be complete unless Boston is given a jab or two. And no doubt, being the Mayor of Dunkin', Affleck delivered it well.
