Amazon Echo, Echo Dot Join List of Hard-To-Find Gadget Gifts For The Holidays; Where To Find Them Now

Last-minute holiday shoppers looking to score either an Amazon Echo or an Echo Dot will be disappointed to learn that these Amazon products are currently sold out on the Amazon website.

The Amazon Echo and the Echo Dot join this year's list of hard-to-find electronic devices, which includes the Nintendo NES Classic Edition, the Snap Spectacles, the PlayStation VR headset, the Apple AirPods, and the Pokemon GO Plus.

According to Wall Street Journal, Amazon.com is currently out of the Amazon Echo, the Echo Dot, and the Tap in all color variants. According to the online retailer, white models of the Echo won't be back in stock until next Friday, Dec. 30, while black models won't be available until Jan. 17. New stocks of the Echo Dot and the Amazon Tap will be available on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

The lack of Echo and other Alexa-powered devices is seen as a result of the sudden surge in demand after the company slashed their prices by 20 percent. But while the stock online including in Prime Now is basically gone, some of Amazon's brick and mortar bookstores may still have them. Check out the Amazon pop-up stores in malls, as well. Some third-party retail stores may also still carry the products.

Hot Hardware considers the lack of Amazon Echo stocks as not "nearly as dire as that of the NES Classic Edition". Fans of the mini NES have been up in arms trying to get Nintendo to make more stocks available before Christmas. But with only a few days before the big day, some kids may not be getting what they wished for.

As for the AirPods, only those who were able to pre-order are getting theirs in a few weeks. Apple has yet to make an announcement on the further availability of its new product. Spectacles and other rare devices are available at eBay. Their prices, however, are through the roof.
