T-Mobile's 4G LTE Network Pops Up In NYC (Video)

T-Mobile is currently working on building up its 4G LTE network, but don't get that confused with its HSPA+ network, which offers what many consider 3.5G speeds but T-Mobile had branded as 4G. T-Mobile had to follow AT&T and Verizon, just as Sprint did, by changing course on its 4G initiative by using a standard called WiMAX and switching to the industry 4G LTE standard. T-Mobile has promised that its 4G LTE network will be up and running and announced that it will cover 200 million customers by the end of 2013.

It's great to see progress being made and that New Yorkers are getting the first taste of T-Mobile's 4G LTE network.

A T-Mobile user going by the handle @milanmilanovic discovered the network and forced his way on using his Nexus 4.

He reportedly discovered a "5 MHz-by-5 MHz link in the 1700/2100 range but he could only meet half of the 37Mbs bandwidth the network can theoretically support. More importantly, Milanovic only had a few minutes at a time to try the network before T-Mobile got wise and booted him off."

He even shot a video to prove that he indeed was running on T-Mobile's 4G LTE network and as you can see in the video, his Nexus 4 is connected to T-Mobile's 4G LTE network. It offers some impressive speeds. Of course, this network currently is not meant for customers, as T-Mobile is still testing this out. But it gives current and future T-Mobile users an idea of how fast T-Mobile's 4G LTE network will be, and it's looking good.
