Pokemon GO Christmas Events: Schedules, Upgrades And Full Details Revealed

So apparently, there are a total of two Pokemon GO Christmas events. And of course, the more the merrier, right? While these are something that players can be excited of, those who expect the same stuff from previous events (Halloween and Thanksgiving, in particular) should think twice. That's because there are few catches to note.

It's worth noting that earlier this month, Niantic decided to roll out a new update. Unfortunately, it wasn't well-receive by most fans. This is because many expected that the 100 new Gen 2 Pokemon will finally arrive. Alas, it didn't happen. Instead, the update introduced only a total of 7 baby eggs, all available for hatching. This already includes the titular Santa hat Pikachu, commonly known as Santachu within the community.

Unfortunately, the gig the studio did with the aforementioned creature in Pokemon GO wasn't enough. It even didn't reach the same kind of level the added candies and XPs did to the players. Note that these were the kind of stuff players had back in the previous two events.

The First Pokemon GO Christmas Event

Well, good thing Niantic realized to heighten up the season and add two new Christmas events. The first one centers on the in-game eggs and their respective incubators. Moreover, the likes of Igglybuff, Smoochum and Pichu (Pokemon that were hoped to have arrived along with the aforesaid update earlier this month) will be introduced. Players will get to hatch them in 2KM, 5KM and 10KM eggs. This even here is slated to run from Dec. 25 to Jan. 3.

Now, for those who are having a hard time purchasing Egg incubators, the first Pokemon GO Christmas event is a nice treat. That's because players will be given the chance to use single-use incubators via PokeStops per day until the event remains active. It's worth noting that in the game, these items are bought using PokeCoins or real-life currency.

The Second Pokemon GO Christmas Events

The second event, in one way or another, covers the New Year's season. This one here runs from Dec. 30 all the way to Jan. 8. During this event, starter Pokemon (e.g. Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander) as well as their respective evolutions will be more common than ever. So for players looking to own the likes of Venusaur, Blastoise and/or Charizard, this is the kind of event they're looking for. This specific upgrade is also meant to cover those who are located in remote areas where Pokemon spawn rates tend to be low.

The only catch with these Pokemon GO events is that neither reduce the walking distance required for buddy Pokemon. Heck, no rewards will even be given to players, such as double candies and/or boosted XPs. Just by looking at them, they're still far from what the other events offered. Nonetheless, they should be enough to keep the community interested in playing the game as the year passes by.

What are your thoughts on the two Pokemon GO Christmas events? Are you satisfied with what Niantic introduced? Do you feel like there should have been a better way to come up with these events? Share us what you're thinking at the comment section below!
