A new leak has surfaced and it now seems like Samsung's next flagship smartphone will have a voice assistant.
Many in the tech industry are itching for 2017 to finally roll in so they can officially start counting the days before some of the much-anticipated devices come out.
Such is the case with Samsung's next flagship device - the Galaxy S8.
Digital Assistant
So far, the rumored features of the Galaxy S8 have been impressive. The latest one, a leak supposedly, says the device will have a new digital assistant based on Viv Labs' platform. Viv Labs, a startup founded by the same people who created Apple's Siri. Samsung already revealed that the Galaxy S8 will feature a digital assistant but this is the first detail about the feature to surface.
The voice-powered AI has long been rumored to be named Bixby, a male voice. Another rumor says there will also be a female-voiced AI named Kestra.
This bit of news comes from SamMobile. According to them, they received vital information from reputable sources that Samsung will have Bixby in "almost all the native apps that would come pre-installed on the Galaxy S8".
Other Rumored Features
Another set of recent rumors says the Galaxy S8 will come with a 6-inch display and have 8GB of RAM. This rumor comes from Ice Universe, a popular tipster for Samsung smartphones. Ice Universe also mentioned that the flagship device will have the UFS 2.1 flash storage.
While bitter rival Apple is unveiling its tenth anniversary iPhone in 2017, the Korean tech giant will be releasing a potential savior in the Galaxy S8.
If the Galaxy S8 fulfills its promise, Samsung may finally dig itself out of the hole it has gotten itself in with the disastrous Galaxy Note 7.
