Google Chairman Eric Schmidt Still Uses A Blackberry

We all have our preferences, but, given his position, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt may have the strangest taste in cellphones ever.

In an interview on Thursday with The Guardian’s editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger, the tech mogul admitted to still using a Blackberry.

Eric Schmidt still uses a Blackberry, not one of the multitude of devices from all sorts of companies around the world that carry his company’s Android operating system. He doesn’t even use an Apple iPhone (would that be worse, or at least make a little more sense?). No, Eric Schmidt, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, still uses the sick man of the mobile world, the Blackberry.

Why does he do it? Is it a constant reminder to his own OS that he will never love it? Is he just willing Android to be better by giving attention to its messed up older brother?

No, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt still uses a Blackberry because it has a physical QWERTY keyboard. But as The Guardian points out, he can get plenty of Android phones with a full keyboard. Seriously, Schmidt has plenty of options (select “QWERTY keyboard”under “Style” on the left). But the chairman specifically said he likes Blackberry’s keyboard, at a talk with The Guardian’s EIC at the Activate conference in India.

It’s still unclear whether Schmidt will continue to use his Blackberry phone once Google, the very company he runs, and its Android OS runs Blackberry into the ground, removing his beloved QWERTY keyboard from the world forever.
