Dell's XPS 13 laptop has received quite a lot of good reviews in the year 2016. Not only is it very powerful, it's also reasonably priced. Nevertheless, if there's one thing that's missing from the XPS 13, it would probably be having a 2-in-1 body. Needless to say, Dell fixed this deficiency and unveiled the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1.
Dell XPS 13 2-In-1 Device
The Dell XPS 13 2-In-1 version isn't simply an XPS 13 with a 360-degree hinge. The company has changed some things to make sure that the new device is equipped with all things "2-in-1". Meaning, it should be portable and come with hybrid-appropriate specs. With that said, the Dell XPS 13 2-In-1 is lighter at 2.7 pounds and thinner at 0.54 inch. Dell says that this new device of theirs is the smallest hybrid laptop currently available.
Dell XPS 13 2-In-1 Specs
Technically, the Dell XPS 13 2-In-1 is smaller than the HP Spectre x360 by 15% and smaller than the Lenovo Yoga 910 by 17%. Nevertheless, in order to do that, the company has to switch from the XPS 13's Kaby Lake processors to an Intel Core i5 7Y54 and i7 7Y75 chips.
Furthermore, Dell also has to compromise its full sized USB and microSD ports. Nevertheless, the backlit keyboard is still present and its key travel is still something Dell should be proud of. Tech Radar also commends the XPS 13 2-In-1's trackpad, saying that it still clicks unlike most of the market's ultra-thin devices.
Additionally, there are configuration options that buyers of the Dell XPS 13 2-In-1 can choose from, and this can go up to 1 TB storage and up to 16 GB RAM. This hybrid device is also equipped with an infrared camera which means Windows Hello facial recognition is supported. Just like the non-hybrid version, the Dell XPS 13 2-In-1 also boasts of its InfinityEdge bezels with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. As for the price and release date, Laptop Mag says this device will be up for sale January 5 for a $999 starting price.
