Tesla Model 3 Autopilot Update, Price and Release Date

Tesla has double time the production of its Model 3 vehicle for its scheduled launch this 2017. With a number of supply chains in range, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is looking at more than a hundred thousand units to be released in the market.

Tesla Model 3 Autopilot Update

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter on Friday the announcement of the release of the HW2 Autopilot software. "Resolving an Autopilot HW2 bug that shows up when booting from a subzero cold-soak," he wrote on the microblogging site. "If that fix works, the software will start uploading [tomorrow]."

According to PCMag, despite missing the "mid-December" deadline, Musk initially promised that the latest software aims to make it safer for all people to sit back, relax and just enjoy the autonomous ride. "HW2 Autopilot software uploading to 1,000 cars this eve," Musk said in a Saturday follow-up to his first post. "Will then hold to verify no field issues and upload to rest of fleet next week," he added.

The new 8.1 software update harnesses hardware which is included in the latest Model S and Model X cars. It has 8 cameras for 360-degree visibility up to 250 meters, 12 ultrasonic sensors for detecting both the hard and soft objects and forward-facing radar capable of seeing through heavy rain, fog, dust, and cars.

"These features operate on a new hardware and software platform," said in the release notes. "Therefore, their rollout will be measured and cautious until we have generated confidence across several hundred million miles of real-world usage."

Tesla Model 3 Autopilot Price And Release Date

Tesla confirmed the upcoming Model 3 will cost starting around $35,000, compared to the Model S's $66,000 asking price, which will also include the necessary hardware for autonomous driving. The tech organization has made it known that the affordable unit rate made no impact on the vehicle's performance, according to a report. As of the release date, it is said to be seen on October 2017.

Tesla Model 3 System Integrators in Thailand And China

According to the International Business Times, Tesla is racing generation and is currently working with supply chain System Integrators (SI) and also increasing its automation. The deadline for the production of the parts for the Tesla Model 3 is just 6 months away and CEO Musk does not want the supplies to have issues on the anticipated car.

KGI analyst Jennifer Liang performed a supply chain check. She reported that company has brought two SIs located in Thailand and China for various sub-assembly for Tesla Model 3. Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X parts and components are shipped to Tesla’s California Fremont factory. In addition to that, the company has also accelerated Model 3 production by acquiring Grohmann Engineering that specializes in automated manufacturing.

Even though CEO Musk believes that the company may deliver 100,000 to 200,000 Tesla Model 3 units, it still just an educated guess and Tesla needs to ramp up their production significantly to achieve that number. This has led Liang to state that the New Tesla Model 3 shipments may fall short of targets in this year though she expects over 50 percent growth for both Model X and S combined in 2017.

The only target that Musk has officially revealed is the annual production rate of 500,000 vehicles in 2018 and that's Tesla Model X, Tesla Model S and Tesla Model 3 combined, according Electrek.
