Nokia Lumia 928 Set For May 15 Debut?

Nokia seems to be on track to reveal its latest Windows Phone 8 (WP8) flagship smartphone known as the Lumia 928 or the Catwalk on May 15.

The phone is expected to debut in London during a media event and the handset will be offered in the U.S. by carrier Verizon in white, black, red and cyan colors.

"Get your buckets of salt on the ready. This tip comes from someone that prefers not to be identified, but can be referred to as 'South'. They say that the Nokia Catwalk might be launched 15th May 2013," says My Nokia Blog.

The Nokia Lumia 928 will succeed the Lumia 920 and the upcoming smartphone is expected to have an aluminum body. Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia, said in an interview that the Finnish company has a portfolio of beautiful smartphones in the pipeline.

"You'll see so much more ahead so we're very excited about what you will see in those products, there's certain things that make Nokia products stand out. Beautiful design is one example. Great photography is another, so you're going to see those things exaggerated and taken to higher and higher levels as we go further," said Elop.

Various rumors are surfacing in the smartphone space that Nokia will reveal a new WP8 flagship for 2013, which is rumored to be called the Lumia 928 and the handset will be headed to U.S. carrier Verizon. When Elop was asked about the Lumia 928 he said "I don't know because we haven't announced the Lumia 928."

The Lumia 928 is speculated to feature Xenon and LED flash to improve taking better photos using Flash. The device will have a similar design to the Lumia 720 and will be lighter than Lumia 920. The device is also expected to feature 4.5 inch OLED display with a thickness of 10.2mm.

Samsung has already launched the Galaxy S4 and if rumors are to be believed, then Apple is also expected to reveal the next-generation iPhone soon.
