Rumors are running amok that Apple will launch a bevy of iDevices in 2013, which include the next-gen iPhone, iPad and iPad mini. Along with the iPhone 5S, iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, Apple is also speculated to include a new smartphone in its line-up, the smaller version of the iPhone, dubbed iPhone 5 mini.
The new kid on the block, iPhone 5 mini, could be Apple's attempt to do a Samsung (remember the Galaxy S3 Mini and the rumored Galaxy S4 mini?). With new iDevice line-up rumors continuing to gain traction, designer Martin Hajek (who is famous for his iPhone 5 concept designs) has come up with prototypes for Apple's alleged portfolio of devices for 2013.
The inspiration for Hajek's 3D renderings, you ask? Well, they are "based on rumors on the Internet." What's more, Hajek even added a splash of color to the conceptual Apple line-up and has a red variant of the iPad mini and an all blue iFamily!
"Phone 5 mini is using the same size screen as the iPhone 4/4S but with the design language of iPhone 5. iPhone 5S and iPad mini 2 in colours ... could be cool! And the iPad 5 with the same design language as iPad mini would make perfect sense. Right?" notes Hajek.
Here's a look at Apple's 2013 roadmap, thanks to Hajek's vision.
iPad 5
Rumor has it that Apple will launch the iPad 5 in the second half of 2013, likely October, a year after its iPad 4 was released in October 2012.
Per rumors, the iPad 5 will feature Sharp's IGZO display and will also be thinner and lighter than the current version. The iPad 5 is also speculated to adopt the design of the iPad mini and will likely have an aluminum back and smaller bezels.
Rumors also point to iOS 7 and hint at a faster processor for the iPad 5, possibly the A7, which will outpace the A6X.
iPad mini 2
Apple is speculated to launch the iPad mini's successor, iPad mini 2, in the second half of 2013. Rumors point to a Retina Display or Sharp IGZO screen with a higher pixel resolution and density (2048 x 1536 pixels, 334ppi).
The iPad mini 2 is rumored to have an upgraded processor and could see a bump from A5 to A6X. The tablet could also have Gorilla Glass 3, making it sturdier and more RAM.
iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5S is widely speculated to release in summer (May or June) close to Apple's WWDC 2013 event. Experts are divided over what the next-gen Apple phone will be called.
Analysts like Kuo and Brian White are of the opinion that the next-gen smartphone will be iPhone 5S and not iPhone 6.
The concept design from Hajek shows off the iPhone 5S with a splash of color. Previously, Brian White opined that Apple will launch the iPhone 5S in multiple colors and sizes. Perhaps, Apple is taking a cue from its iPod touch?
iPhone 5 mini
This smartphone is a little jewel in Hajek's mock-up of Apple products. Design-wise, the iPhone 5 mini bears a strong resemblance to the iPhone 5, but its 3.5-inch size is like that of the iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 5 mini could well be the rumored cheaper iPhone. Analysts believe that the unlocked version of the iPhone mini could retail between $299 to $450.
