Borderlands 3 is definitely in the works, but so far, no official announcement or material for the game has been released online. A lot of people have been wondering on whether the game will be available for the Nintendo Switch, but the bad news is, it looks like it won't be.
Randy Pitchford from GearBox answered a fan on Twitter who asked about Borderlands 3 potentially coming to Nintendo's latest console, and he writes, "I do not see that as happening. We were talking to Nintendo, but that stopped for some reason. They have other priorities." Granted a lot of big-name games are also coming to the Switch like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the absence of the next Borderlands game is sure to disappoint some fans of the franchise who are eager to buy the Nintendo Switch.
Gaming Bolt speculates that the "priorities" mentioned in the post could mean that Nintendo was working on the Switch's online functionality. Granted that the Switch is the first of its kind - a hybrid between traditional consoles and handheld devices - it could take some time for other companies to adjust their games in order to be playable for the Nintendo Switch. With more games being easier to localize between the PS4, Xbox One and PC, some people may be getting second thoughts on buying a Nintendo Switch.
Speaking of the Nintendo Switch, news has come out that pre-orders for the game have already been sold out at Gamespot. With rumors coming around that the Switch will be on low supply come launch day, some very eager gamers are finding out more ways to secure themselves a unit by the time the Nintendo Switch comes out. Hopefully the Switch delivers after the disaster that was the Wii U.
No official release date has been announced for Borderlands 3, but it's possible that fans could get an update when the Electronic Entertainment Expo kicks in this year on June 13. The Nintendo Switch is set for a release on March 3.
