If you are a hardcore Final Fantasy fan, chances are you already got World of Final Fantasy in your library. I had a lot of fun with it, but we only had one month together before I got my hands on Final Fantasy 15. I'm guilty of casting it aside to play the latest installment and I don't really regret that, but now that I've gotten around to WoF again, I realized that you guys should do the same.
Final Fantasy's Turn-Based Battle System: I Didn't Know I Missed It
Final Fantasy 15's battle mechanics are nothing short of awesome. It took some getting used to, but mastering it took me to a whole new level of combat experience (in video games). It is one of the features that made the title highly enjoyable and exciting.
However, revisiting Final Fantasy's classic turn-based combat system did not feel bad at all. Coming straight from the open combat of FFXV, waiting for your turn to make a move is strangely refreshing. I remembered my primary school days thinking of a strategy to keep my characters' HP up to avoid dying from the enemy's master skill. This style certainly keeps me thinking.
WoF Is Final Fantasy Franchise In One Game (Great For Beginners)
Don't get fooled by the cute chibi characters, World of Final Fantasy has a lot of Final Fantasy elements in it. Aside from the iconic characters, you get to relive getting lost in areas without clues as to what you should do and you even get to be annoyed at encountering the same monsters again and again while being lost.
You can expect a lot of Final Fantasy fan service here. It may also be a great idea to play it before playing the older FF titles like Final Fantasy VII or VIII. Being introduced to major characters from different series then getting to see where they came from upon playing their games is going to be an awesome experience, I imagine.
Play It For The Cute Chibi Forms Of Your Favorite Character
I know I said to not get fooled, but who can resist a chibified Squall and Cloud? The best thing about it is that you will witness the chibi forms of your favorite FF characters in action. It's adorable and at the same time pretty awesome.
But World of Final Fantasy doesn't stop there. The whole world of Grymoire has a cute and whimsical feel to it (even the monsters!). However, that shouldn't stop grown men from playing it. I know many manly men who enjoyed the game and last I checked, they're still growing beards.
Meanwhile, Kingdom Hearts' Sora is getting chibified. The protagonist has already come to Japan, but he is yet to arrive as a Champion Summon DLC in World of Final Fantasy on Jan. 24 in U.S. Of course, the Keyblade is making an appearance as well. He is yours for free, but only until March 31 so better mark your calendars now. Watch him in action in the video below.
