A man was allegedly spotted wearing Google Glass on a train in Brooklyn, New York City over the weekend. This is the second citing of Google Glass in New York City. Last time it was in the East Village area. This time it was in the borough of Brooklyn. The Google testers are among us checking out what Google Glass has to offer.
Google announced in February that it was looking for testers to try out its wearable high tech specs and held a contest. As long as you were willing to fill out a short application and cough up a mere $1,500, you could be one of the hand-picked 8,000 chosen ones.
As the Gothamist reported, "I was on the L train Saturday night on my way from Brooklyn to Union square to see a 12:30 a.m. screening of Jurassic Park in 3D (so obviously the world was already full of magic) when my friends and I spotted this man with something odd around his neck sitting across from us," tipster Christina Martinelli said.
Most people may be leery to be on a train in Brooklyn in the wee hours of the morning wearing a $1,500 Google Glass apparatus. Apparently there are some brave testers out there, according to Martinelli this really happened. The Google Glass got the attention from onlookers.
"Just as we had guessed that they were Google Goggles [ed. note: Google Glass] this other guy realized the same thing and struck up a conversation with him," Martinelli said.
It's safe to conclude that the man spotted in Brooklyn wearing Google Glass may have either been a Google employee or one of the chosen testers. The winners of the Google Glass tester contest were chosen in late March.
