Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is upon us and a few have already gotten the chance to play it. The demos made sure to give us expectations, so now the question is, will it be a letdown like the past latest titles in the series or will it be a true Resident Evil title we all have hoped for? Well, this is what the reviews are saying.
Resident Evil 7 Brings The Horror Back In The Franchise
Honestly, when was the last time we felt true horror in the recent Resident Evil titles? Some of us had very low expectations when the title was announced. I know many of you felt that Capcom had to give up on the franchise at some point, and boy, am I glad that you are wrong!
The Resident Evil 7 demo apparently did not hold a candle to the real thing. Those who have played them can expect a lot more from the full game and you can expect to encounter surprises at every other corner of the mansion of the Baker family.
Per the reviews, you can expect to get lost and stuck in a puzzle while fearing for your dear life. The sound effects, the tension, the lighting and the story all work together to give you a fright while making sure you enjoy the experience.
Not Following The Formula Worked Out For The Best
In Resident Evil 7, we don't see the zombies we're used to. Instead, we're treated to a first-person perspective inside the Baker mansion with the ultra-creepy family. Sure, there will be some monsters that will probably chase me out of my room screaming for my brother to hold me while I play, but the Bakers will haunt me in my dreams forever.
Reviews, specifically this one from PurePlayStation, describe the extremely unsettling Baker family and how you they're video game boss material. The Molded, which Capcom made sure to give us four variations, are nightmare fuel. It seems like your character will not be getting rest in Resident Evil 7, which is just how I want it.
Still, Resident Evil 7 Felt Like Homecoming
While Resident Evil 7 did shake a lot of things up, the overall package is what we have come to love in the franchise. The survival horror series started out great, resulting to tens of installments that deteriorated in quality at some point. You could say that the latest title redeemed the whole franchise and brought it back to its roots.
There are still some elements that could have been better, but Resident Evil 7 already did a good job in taking longtime fans to a trip back home while offering something new and exciting that don't take away the essence of the original Resident Evil. Isn't that what gamers just love? Taking an effective recipe and adding a flair?
Needless to say, I'm buying Resident Evil 7. Reviews have been great so far and they're enough to push fans like me to purchase the latest installment.
