Korean pop star Psy is getting ready to release his new single, called Gentleman, on April 12. The new song will debut on iTunes worldwide, across 119 countries. Gentleman is the follow-up to Psy's record-breaking 2012 hit single, Gangnam Style. The song entered the Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100 at number six and climbed to the number one spot within a week.
The music video for Gangnam Style, featuring the ever-popular Gangnam Style dance, became the first YouTube video to reach 1 billion views. The video took the world by storm and also received recognition from Guinness World Records for being the most-liked video on YouTube in 2012. To date, the video has reached almost 2 billion views.
The new single, Gentleman, comes with a brand new dance in the hope of achieving the same popularity as Gangnam Style. Psy was spotted in Seoul shooting the music video for Gentleman and the new dance is similar to the Gangnam "rodeo dance." Photos from the video were posted on a Korean media site and suggest that the video may be just as epic as Psy's previous video.
As Reuters reported, "I can't tell you about the dance but all Koreans know this dance — but (those in) other countries haven't seen it," Psy said on a local television station Monday.
Psy is set to perform Gentleman live for the first time at a concert at Seoul's World Cup Stadium the day after the single is released. Psy's concert, "Happening," will be live-streamed on YouTube and is expected to be nothing less than an elaborate show.
