ZTE unveiled the ZTE Geek smartphone at the Intel Developers Forum in Beijing, China on Wednesday April 10.
The geeky device comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean along with Intel's latest smartphone chip, the Clover Trail+-based Atom Z2580 at 2GHz. Though the smartphone's other specs aren't necessarily cutting edge, they definitely fall on the higher end of the spectrum. Needless to say, it's still a powerful Geek.
The five-inch device features an HD touch screen with 1,280x720p resolution. It has 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. Other features include an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, a 1-megapixel front-facing camera and a 2,300mAh battery.
In terms of design, the ZTE Geek shares the same clean look sported by the Grand S, minus the black eye surrounding the main camera. The device shown at the forum, however, is not a finished product, and ZTE confessed that it had to rush out a prototype for the event, so we'll have to wait and see what the final version looks like.
Given the Intel CPU and latest version of Android, it's fair to say that ZTE may be aiming the Geek at tech heads as opposed to the average consumer. Just as with the ZTE Grand S and Grand Memo, ZTE appears to be amping up its high-end smartphone offerings.
Interested in getting to the Geek? You may have to wait a while. None of ZTE's recent high-end devices has yet made it to the U.S., although ZTE did mention that the Grand S will be arriving stateside sometime this year.
