Netflix announced earlier this month that over Memorial Day weekend, it will premiere 15 new episodes of the hit comedy series, Arrested Development. The revival episodes will air on May 26 and Netflix released a few Arrested Development promotional posters to complement its return.
Fans of the sitcom are looking forward to the release of the additional episodes on Netflix, but what they are really looking forward to is Arrested Development, the movie. For many, this fourth season is long overdue; the show was highly successful for three seasons, running from 2003 to 2006.
In a recent interview, cast member Jason Bateman said that the Netflix episodes and the Arrested Development movie deal go hand in hand.
"One doesn't really work without the other. They keep saying it's a new season, but it is actually a bunch of episodes that set up the movie," Bateman said to I Am Rogue.
All Netflix subscribers will be able to watch the new Arrested Development episodes instantly at 12:01 AM PDT throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Brazil and the Nordics.
"Arrested Development is now widely viewed as one of the top TV comedies of all time and Mitch Hurwitz is bringing it to Netflix in a brand new way, crafted for the on-demand generation that has come to discover the show in the years since it last appeared on TV. The highly anticipated return of this show is sure to make history all over again," Chief Content Officer for Netflix Ted Sarandos said in a press release.
