iPhone 6 And Nexus 5: Which Will Be More Popular?

Despite the fact that that the iPhone 6 has yet to be officially announced by Apple or that, similarly, the Nexus 5 has yet to be officially announced by Google, the buzz about both "unofficial" devices is such that a popularity comparison now seems warranted.

At the moment, it's being alleged that the iPhone 6 will be released next year and that the Nexus 5 will be released as early as October, considering Google launched its last two Nexus devices in October, too.

In Phone Reviews' popularity comparison between the iPhone 6 and the Nexus 5, it is pointed out that the iPhone 6 will likely have to be something quite special, as the iPhone 5 was something of a disappointment for Apple and there were those who claimed the phone was already outdated on release, in comparison to Android devices already on the market.

"The Nexus range of smartphones has seen an increase in popularity with the availability of the LG Nexus 4, and while the handset remains extremely popular among Android fans, thoughts are now turning to its replacement the Nexus 5," Phone Reviews says.

The iPhone 6 might end up rocking a wrap-around design, but the Nexus 5 is alleged to be coming with a "much better camera" and will supposedly receive regular Android updates which, according to Phone Reviews, make the Nexus handsets overall a more popular series than Apple's iPhones.

Phone Reviews also reminds us that the last model of the Nexus series was so popular — thanks in part to its "unlocked competitive price" — that it was hard for Google to keep the units stocked for consumers. This in comparison to the iPhone 5 debacle in which Apple ended up capping supplies due to lack of interest and poor anticipation of popularity that wasn't nearly as lofty as the company had initially hoped.

Ultimately, if history follows suit once again, we'll likely see the Nexus 5 as a more popular device than the iPhone 6. But, again, if Apple is really cooking up something special with its next-generation iPhone (looking past the iPhone 5S) — particularly considering the news that singular visionary Steve Jobs may have posthumously had something to do with its design — history might be soon rewritten.

What do you think? Will the iPhone 6 trump the Nexus 5, or will it be the other way around? Which device are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below.
