The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to change the series' formula by including voice acting in all of its cut scenes. That aside, take a closer look at the control scheme of the game on the Nintendo Switch.
Full Voice Acting in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
According to My Nintendo News (blog), series producer Eiji Aonuma revealed that the upcoming Zelda title will include full voice acting for all of the cut scenes. It is worth noting that this will be the first game in the franchise that will include actual voices instead of obscure sound effects. Previous titles often relied on text and grunts for conversations with non-playable characters (NPCs).
Aonuma explained that the team originally planned on including voices for the major cutscenes only. However, he soon decided to expand this specific feature due to the title's large number of scenes. In spite of this, the series protagonist, Link, will still remain mute throughout the entire duration of the game.
Nintendo Switch Controls
On a different note, the control scheme for the game on the Nintendo Switch has finally been revealed, as per Gamereactor UK. Take note that Nintendo had already revealed the controls on the Wii U back during E3 2016. Here are the following controls for the hybrid console:
A allows players to take items and climb down while B lets Link sprint and close menus. On the other hand, X is for jumping and climbing and Y is for attacking with Link's equipped weapon. Like most games, the Left Stick is for moving the character and sneaking while the Right Stick is for adjusting the camera and enabling the telescope view.
Moving on, L is for using an item and navigating through the menu while ZL is for using the shield or locking on targets. Link can throw his weapon and also navigate the menu using R and ZR is specifically for using the bow. The Left D-pad is for switching shields, Right D-pad for changing weapons and the Up D-pad swaps special items and is also the 'whistle' button. Finally, players can use the Sheikah Slate using the - button while the + button is for pausing the game or going through the inventory.
There is hardly a difference between the controls for the Wii U and the Switch but it will be noticeable for those used to the latter controls. It seems like the said actions place heavy emphasis on shifting through items and bringing up the Sheikah Slate abilities. Fans can play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Mar. 3, 2016.
