A YouTube channel the goes by the name Doug DeMuro did a review on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and had a lot of amazing things to say about it.
The Overview
This car starts with a base price of $176,000, but for the car featured in the video review, it cost $220,000. Truth be told, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is not your average Porsche car, it really is literally built for racers.
Unlike the Porsche 911 GT3, the GT3 RS is 22 lbs lighter with an added 25 more horsepower that sums up to 500 horsepower. Read more and you will how unique this car is.
Outer Body Design
First, we start with the rear design. The 911 GT3 RS has this ridiculously huge rear wing that you can actually fit your head through. Not only that, because you would also be surprised that when this sexy car moves, its rear wing can generate 500 lbs of down force.
Speaking about downforce, the air extractors on its front fenders also helps add in generating a down force. And according to the Doug, combined with all its features, it can generate up to 700 lbs of down force.
Next are the tires which have this carbon-ceramic brakes. These bad boys are a $10,000 option over normal brakes. It is also designed to save weight and reduce brake fade at a race track.
Inner Body Design
Inside the car, you will find the Pit Speed button. This button is designed to let the driver set a maximum speed. Example, if you're in a pit lane on a race track, you won't accidentally go over the speed limit.
Another thing is a fire extinguisher located at the bottom of the passenger seat. You know, just in case an accident happens on the race track.
The steering wheel is also unique. It has this fine texture which really helps with your grip when you're driving on a race track. To add to that, there is even a little thin yellow strip at the top of to help remind you which part is up.
Not Your Average Porsche Car
Remember I mentioned about it being less heavy than the 911 GT3? Well, you will know what was taken out just to achieve that.
First are the seats. The 911 GT3 RS comes with sports seats which are certainly not designed for comfort. There are also no backseats, so driving around with many people inside is out of the question. It will just be you and your sweet date.
However, you might also want to know that there is no power switch for you to adjust the seats. You have to move them manually.
Second is the door handles. This may look cheap because the door handles on the GT3 RS are replaced with nylon hoops. And just when you thought that those are the only things that Porsche replaced just to save weight as much as possible, they even replaced the badges. Yup, the GT3 RS sports decal badges.
Third is back to the steering wheel. Yes, it does have this fine fabric wrapped around the wheel, but none of those cool high-tech controls are there. It doesn't even have a sunroof.
Lastly, just to top it all off, almost everything about the GT3 RS is made out of carbon fiber material. From the seats, rear wing, front fenders, front trunk lid, rear hood, and some of its engine compartments.
The Verdict
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS was not designed for luxury, it is a car simply designed for driving in the fast lane - a need for speed of some sort. And if you ask me if I will glad to have one, yes. For me, it's like a car that Vin Diesel would appreciate.
