The just-leaked images and specs of the HTC smartphone going by the codename "606w" are reportedly an upcoming mid-range smartphone from the company that will take some features found on the HTC One. As you can see in the pictures, the HTC 606w features front-facing HTC Boom Sound stereo speakers that are currently only available on the HTC One.
I was fortunate enough to spend some time using the Sprint HTC One and did a hands-on impression, and the HTC Boom Sound speakers were the best-sounding speakers I have ever heard on a smartphone. The HTC 606w appears to be inheriting the same exact speakers, along with the HTC One's dual soft key design and a lower-clocked quad-core processor. The 606w will also come with a microSD card slot for expandable memory; the HTC One does not include this feature.
The rumored specs of the HTC 606w include a 4.5-inch 960 x 540 TFT display, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.6-megapixel front facing camera, front-facing HTC Boom Sound stereo speakers with Beats Audio and microSD expansion slot.
There are a few things we don't know yet: internal memory and when this smartphone is expected to be announced. The HTC 606w might be labeled as a mid-range smartphone but if the rumored specs are true, it has enough high-end features to make it a very desirable choice.
