Here's an odd one. For some reason, the forthcoming Xbox 720 gaming console has popped up on a price and specs page in India. On the page, we're promised a "complete detail of Xbox 720. Xbox 720 price in India and its features, specs are given below."
When we look at the page, we do indeed see that there's a very austere and professional-seeming run-down of anything and everything one would want to know about the Xbox 720, particularly when it comes to how the console will go on sale in India.
On closer inspection, though, we can see that regardless of the fact that PricesinIndia.net may purport to be a "[l]eading source for [g]adget reviews and pricing," at least when it comes to this compilation of "information" about the Xbox 720 in India, this source isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Let's cut right to the chase and look at what the price of the Xbox 720 will allegedly be in India.
"The official price for Xbox 720 is not declared by the company," PricesinIndia.net correctly observes, "however Xbox 720 will cost you around ₹16000 and ₹22000 (for Pro version), which is a good buy, considering the best-in-line hardware specs it comes with."
Considering ₹16000 - ₹22000 is equivalent to $295.42 - $406.20, that does sound like a really "good buy" for the Xbox 720 in India. Except from the fact that it's hardly the $100 one analyst is suggesting for the Xbox 720.
The real problem, obviously, is that there is absolutely no source for the information here, and that even PricesinIndia.net itself reminds us that Sony has yet to announce the price for the Xbox 720!
Another problem with the Xbox 720 page on PricesinIndia.net is a pretty big one: The fact the Xbox 720 isn't actually the official name for the next-gen gaming console from Microsoft. We all use the name, but much like Android Key Lime Pie (and plenty of other forthcoming products that haven't been officially christened yet), Xbox 720 is a totally arbitrary name.
Though PricesinIndia.net may also refer to the codename of the Xbox 720 as "Durango," that too is really more of an in-house phrase Microsoft is using and not really meant for public consumption.
There are plenty of other things wrong with the Xbox 720 page of PricesinIndia.net, but one thing that caught our astute editor's eye is the fact that it states the Xbox 720 will be rocking a 4K resolution. That surely would be super-sweet and may even one day be possible for gaming consoles, but just because we're seeing 4K TVs coming out does not mean the Xbox 720 or even, say, the PS4 will be capable of rocking out 4K games.
Even if it's possible that we might one day see a gaming console sporting 4K resolution, it's still so in the "rumor" section for the Xbox 720 that for PrincesinIndia.net to list it as a definite spec of the gadget just makes us wonder, yet again: if PricesinIndia.net is really the "leading" source for gadget reviews and pricing — exactly where is it leading us to?
For those who wish to be led even further to rumorsville, you can also check out PricesinIndia.net's page for the PS4. Please do so with caution and keep an eye out. We know we will!
