This money was donated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which has pledged to stand against Trump´s Muslim ban on refugees and immigrants from Sudan, Yemen Libya, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Somalia. In fact, these actions against the president´s decision have made the civil right groups raised more than $24 million in online donations in the past weeks.
Twitter´s decision to make the donation started with 1000 of its employees, who decided to donate the amount of $530,000 to the ACLU, a sum that was matched by the CEO Jack Dorsey and Twitter´s executive chairman Omid Kordestani, making it to $1.59 million. In fact, an email sent to the network´s staff by lawyer Vijava Gadde, stated that there will be a flurry of legal challenges, legislative pushes and public pronouncements in the coming months.

Regarding these moves, Dorsey explained through his Twitter account that the humanitarian and economic impact of the Muslim ban is real and upsetting, claiming that this social media network benefits from what immigrants and refugees bring to America. Of course, in addition to this company, many other tech giants like Apple or Facebook has strongly criticized the executive order, marking another huge collision between Donald Trump and Silicon Valley.
Apparently, in the coming days, some of the most important tech companies in the U.S. are going to send an open letter to Trump, expressing the concern about the Muslim ban, and offering several ways to fix this controversial issue.
