German designer Eric Huismann has rendered an iPhone 6 concept that features a fully transparent 4-inch display. While the concept is specifically for an Apple iPhone 6, it should be noted that glass is cheaper than anodized aluminum, so if we're going to entertain the notion of a transparent iPhone 6, we may as well entertain a transparent iPhone 5S as well.
Huismann was good enough to render a hypothetical iPhone 6 spec sheet with speculative features and all: the transparent iPhone 6 / iPhone 5S would be powered by iOS 7 and would be 17 percent slimmer than the iPhone 5. The Apple iPhone 6 rendering features a 4-inch HD screen, A7 processor and 10-megapixel camera. It would come in 32, 64 or 128GB options priced at $299, $399 and $499, respectively.
The transparent iPhone 6 / iPhone 5S concept reminds us of a similar iPad 5 render that came out in February, though we're inclined to say the transparent aesthetic works better on Apple's tablet.
The new iPhone 6 features an entirely transparent body except for the top and bottom bars, where the speaker and home button are located. For some reason, Huismann has taken the Apple logo usually found on the back of an iPhone, shrank it and slapped it onto the front of the device. He also nixed the round home button and replaced it with what appears to be a smaller, rectangular home button — possibly a touchkey.
The rendered iPhone 6 / iPhone 5S will probably be familiar to a lot folks, as somebody seems to posit a see-through iPhone just about every product cycle, but it still looks cool, so we're bringing it to you.
