Originally, Yondu is a fictional character who appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is also illustrated as the last survivor of his kind in the 31st century and a founding member of the original "Guardian of the Galaxy" team of Earth-691.
During Super Bowl 51, Marvel gave "Guardians of the Galaxy" fans a much-awaited debut with the latest trailer for the upcoming film, "Guardian of the Galaxy Vol.2."
"Just who the hell do you think you are?" is the first line in the trailer. It also included Star-Lord(Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and, of course, Baby Groot (Vin Diesel).
The trailer also showed faces of the villains from the original movie, Nebula and the blue-skinned alien Yondu (Michael Rooker) who is sporting a more extravagant new Fin. According to reports, this look came from an Instagram trend known as the #MarvelMovieChallenge and was dropped by Marvel's official profile as a recent entry.
Some fans actually feel that Yondu is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Characters who should be given longer screen time.
Will Yondu be playing a different Role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?
In the first film, Yondu is playing an antagonist who leads the Ravagers who is trying to kill the lead character, Lord played by Chris Pratt for betraying him.
Director and writer James Gunn has also been playing with viewer's imagination with his announcement at the San Diego Comic-con that Yondu will be playing a much more heroic role on the most anticipated sequel.
According to reports, Yondu will be reprising his role, not as an antagonist but a full-fledged member of the team and a very important ally. Thus, making his alliance an extravagant aspect of the film, especially considering his past with Peter Quill.
Images have also been released courtesy of USA Today with Yondu carrying tiny little Groot on his shoulder, and Rocket swaggering through a pack of disoriented men.
