Given the negative press it had received to build-up its release, "World War Z" unaffectedly turned out to be quite a decent film. Settled, it didn't have the most notable similarity to the Max Brooks' novel on which the story was based. Yet, the headline features Brad Pitt to overcame its back third rationalized script and went on to box office hits that grossed $540 million in 2013. So, "World War Z 2" seems kind of predictable. Assuming, of course, it can go sky high.
'World War Z 2' Pulled From Paramount Schedule
In the release schedule revamp that led to the Friday the 13th reboot being yanked from an October 13, 2017 release date in favor of Darren Aronofsky's mother, Paramount Pictures has also removed "World War Z 2" from its definitely longshot arrival date of June 9, 2017. That release date appeared less and less likely in recent months, with the film still looking for a director in the wake of Juan Antonio Bayona, jumping ship to go play with dinosaurs in its place in "Jurassic World 2." With no director, no cast except for Pitt, and no clear indication of the movie even having a script ready to shoot, "World War Z 2" could be lacking firing a shot.
'World War Z 2' Release Date
The last release date for the film broadcasted by Paramount Pictures was June 9, 2017. Though, considering that the movie has neither a director or firm screenwriter in place--much less a cast or crew beyond Brad Pitt--we find that a bit questionable.
World War Z 2 Director and Production
When World War Z 2 was first publicized, the project seemed to be going smoothly than the infamous production hiccups experienced by its forerunner. Steven Knight, to write the screenplay and J.A. Bayona, fresh off the indie darling "The Impossible" and during filming 2016's moving "A Monster Calls," was serene to direct. However, Bayona broke through and is now helming "Jurassic World 2" instead, and what we heard about Dennis Kelly was rewriting the screenplay. And we now learn that World War Z 2 has been set for release on June 9, 2017. Now, that's the same date that Fox has reserved for "Fantastic Four 2." We'll have to wait and see if either of those shifts.
