NBA trade rumors about DeMarcus Cousins are grinding once again. For many months, a lot of speculations went around that the Kings will trade the All-Star Center to another team. But there were also some rumors that Sacramento will retain him. So, fans of the big man are confused as to what really is the score.
DeMarcus Cousins Is At The Center Of Rumors Again
These NBA trade rumors kicked off again last week when a report came out saying that the Kings had probably discussed a deal with the Phoenix Suns regarding Cousins. The deal will supposedly send small forward T.J. Warren and center Alex Len to the Kings in exchange for Cousins. This deal is supposedly sweetened further by the Suns by including some future picks.
However, Sacramento is denying that there is such a deal being negotiated with Phoenix. Vlad Divac, the Kings' General Manager said that Cousins is not being traded by his team. "We're not trading DeMarcus," Divac stated flatly. "We hope he's here for a long time," he added. So, fans of Cousins will heave a sigh of relief, until the next round of NBA trade rumors involving their idol.
Are The Lakers Veterans On The Way Out?
On the other side of the fence, there are also NBA trade rumors suggesting that the LA Lakers are thinking of trading some of their veterans for new blood. Earlier, the team said that they are not making any moves before the trade deadline on Feb. 23. But with their status in the Western Conference being second-to-last, they may have changed their minds already.
Now, NBA trade rumors are saying that they are thinking of considering a trade that can boost their ranks, but not lose their young talents. That would mean there will be some veterans that would have to go. From the way they have built their current roster, it appears that the Lakers are now concentrated on building a younger team.
This would mean the larger contracts of their veterans will prove to be a big burden to the team. The most notable contracts are those involving Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov. A third possibility is Lou Williams. Some NBA trade rumors have speculated on this idea from the way Walton has benched Deng and Mozgov in their recent match against the New York Knicks.
