Destiny 2 is reportedly coming out this year with planned monthly themed events. One Bungie writer though denied that the upcoming game will bear the title "Forge of Hope".
Destiny 2 Storyline - The Taken King
Reddit user Inside_Leaks claimed that his insider connection at Bungie managed to give some info on Destiny 2. The leak included the upcoming game's release date, storyline and other features. The new Destiny installment may also make use of a new game engine which can affect characters from the previous installment.
The Destiny 2 storyline will start after the events of The Taken King expansion which took place on 2015. The Guardians are tasked to repulse the cabal enemies that have overrun the city. During the battle, the protagonists will get to hear stories about Queen Mara Sov as well as the Exo Strangers motives. The story ends with the defeat of the Cabal leader in the hands of the Guardians.
The first expansion for the upcoming game will supposedly focus on Vex as well the Kabr and Praydeth origins. The expansion is supposed to be released one year after the sequel's launch. Inside_Leaks also claimed that Destiny 2 will be titled Forge of Hope but Bungie director/writer Eric Osborne ridiculed the claim.
Scheduled Launch Date
Destiny 2 will reportedly come out on late 2017 by early or mid-November. Bungie will also make the game available to the Windows PC, PS4, PS4 Pro and Xbox One. The developer will also make it available to the upcoming Xbox Scorpio. PlayStation owners will still enjoy timed exclusivity but only up to three months, according to the leaker.
New Game Engine
Bungie will also reportedly use a new game engine for Destiny 2. This is to make sure that the developer can release additional contents at a much faster pace. It seems Bungie want to release themed events every month if possible similar to what Blizzard is doing at Overwatch. The Reddit user also said that the previous Destiny characters are probably excluded from the sequel. The new characters though will have more customization options.
