There were many things that happened to episode 12 that made some impact on what will transpire in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 episode 13 and beyond. That episode made some big changes in the TV series. The consequences of those changes will be featured in the coming episodes. Here are some of the details on those changes.
Meredith Stood Out and Was Immediately Suspended By Bailey
The power struggle going on at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital caught Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) in the middle. Bailey relieved Richard (James Pickens, Jr.) to put Eliza (Marika Dominczyk) in his post as Director of Residency. But Meredith did not allow her to interfere in her operating room. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) suspended Meredith for her insubordination and ordered her to leave immediately. In effect, she suspended her long-time colleague indefinitely in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.
April Took Over Meredith's Position
Not being sure when Meredith will come back, Bailey immediately appointed April (Sarah Drew) to take the job of Meredith. However, she did not inform Meredith about her being replaced in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. Meredith only learned about it through an email. But it appears that it is inconsiderate for April to accept the appointment. Fans will remember that Meredith has given a big favor to April when she allowed her caesarean operation on her dinner table.
Potential Love Triangle Being Developed Between Alex, Jo and De Luca
Jo (Camilla Luddington) hugged Alex (Justin Chambers) after knowing that he is finally free from any legal charges from DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti). They never uttered a word at that time but it appears to be symbolic of what their relationship will become. However, De Luca appears to realize that he looks at Jo as being more than a friend. So, fans may expect a love triangle between these three characters in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.
Finally, Alex Appears To Be Scot-Free In Grey's Anatomy Season 13
When De Luca broke into the DA's office to announce that he is dropping his charges against Alex, it seems the latter's legal problems are finally over in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. That means Alex could now move on with his life without any legal encumbrances. De Luca admitted that Alex did not attack him brutally, but they were only in a fist fight that went out of control.
