Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. iPhone 5: Which Survives The Drop Test? (Video)

While we're all waiting for the imminent release of "the next big thing," the Samsung Galaxy S4, we can't help but jump on any information we can find about the next-gen smartphone from the biggest mobile manufacturer in the world. Now there's been a drop test involving the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4, and it turns out the iPhone reigns supreme -- at least in this arena.

The drop test between the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 actually had some interesting results, including the fact that from chest and pocket height, both phones came out fine.

As Mashable notes, when TechSmartt recorded the drops of the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4 with no less than three cameras, it was also discovered that, from a seven-foot drop, the S4 just couldn't keep up.

"After hitting the ground on a corner edge, a spiderweb crack appeared on the (Samsung Galaxy S4) screen," Mashable observes. "It didn't cover the whole screen and the phone continued to function, but it was much more damage than the iPhone 5 exhibited after an identical drop, which again had only minor scuffs."

From subsequent and higher drop tests, the Samsung Galaxy S4 had to "throw in the towel," as Mashable notes, saying the creator of the video explained that he had no bias toward the S4 or iPhone 5 and that both devices were essentially "naked" throughout the tests, meaning no screen protectors or the like were employed.

Though the Samsung Galaxy S4 clearly lost out to the iPhone 5 in the recorded drop test, it did beat out its own predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S3, as far as durability is concerned.
