The reboot of the classic 70s sitcom "The Odd Couple" won't likely be renewed. Even though the series successfully made people laugh, its ratings are rather inadequate. Actor Thomas Lennon himself revealed he would be surprised if there would be "The Odd Couple" season 4.
The comedy series follows a pair of unlikely best friends, Felix Unger and Oscar Madison. The two have contrasting personalities, Felix (Thomas Lennon) is a sort of neurotic and fussy while Oscar (Matthew Perry) is easygoing. The two quickly became friends during college as they became roommates.
The two married and went separate ways, however, they reunite again years later after getting kicked out by their own wives. Felix is now a neat freak journalist while Oscar is a sports talk show host. The two tried to date Casey and Emily, sisters who live in the same building as them.
There isn't an official cancellation of "The Odd Couple" season 4 yet but actor Thomas Lennon does not seem too optimistic. The third season had an original order of 13 episodes which is supposed to be extended to 22. However, the ratings didn't go well and CBS didn't make additional episode orders.
The ratings for "The Odd Couple" season 3 went down by up to 27 percent while the demo ratings are down by 26 percent compared to season 2. It has an average got an average of 4.99 million viewers and 1.02 million viewers for the 18-49 demo.
In an interview with TV Line, Lennon said the series is still "hanging in there" with a slight increase in rating recently. However, he said he would be a bit surprised if the network will push for "The Odd Couple" season 4. "I think CBS wanted it to do slightly better than it's been doing. That said, it's doing a 1 [rating] on Monday nights at 9:30, which is pretty late for that show, by the way..." the actor said "That said, I hate to speculate, but from my point of view it doesn't seem a lot like it's coming back."
