Niantic officially released Pokemon Go Gen 2 patch to the public and players started to catch these 80 brand new Pokemon. Meanwhile, several trainers are gathering information regarding this generation's region-exclusives.
Previously, generation one features 4 region-locked Pokemon namely Tauros, Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan and Farfetch'd. However, this time players still don't have information regarding the complete list of Gen 2's region-exclusives. Apparently, there are recent leaks pointing out to Heracross being a region-locked Pokemon. For those who are new to the game, region-locked Pokemon are only made available on particular areas such as North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
According to the report from Game Rant, there are several players who reported that Heracross is only available to North and South America. A Reddit user named Wolfssul compiled data showing Heracross being captured in areas like Florida and other parts of South America. There may be several reports saying that Heracross have been caught on other regions, but, it still remains unconfirmed.
Meanwhile, if all claims were true, it would be odd if Heracross is the only region-exclusive Pokemon in Gen 2. In addition, it is also a kind of unfair if Niantic only releases one region-exclusive this time. As a result, it will make the company being inconsistent about handling these types of Pokemon.
On the other hand, there is also a possibility that Heracross is just being rare in general, like Unown. Currently, Wolfssul's post has been updated and adds two more possible region-locked Pokemon to the list. These are identified as Delibird and Smeargle.
Overall, the list of Gen 2's region-locked Pokemon is still unstable probably because the update is still fresh. It is expected to be finalized when time passes as players continue to gather more information regarding these Pokemon.
On other news, one of the most-awaited Trading Feature could be added soon which is predicted to help players capture these region-locked Pokemon easier than before. Pokemon Go is now available for Android and iOS devices.
