Samsung has already launched the much-awaited Galaxy S4, which has started to get in the hands of millions of smartphone enthusiasts. Just after the Galaxy S4 launch the Korean tech giant announced the Galaxy Mega series and now the company has announced another smartphone, the Galaxy Core.
"Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a leader in mobile technology and digital solutions, today announced the Samsung GALAXY Core, a smartphone designed to offer users dual core processing power for multitasking, Dual SIM technology for easy transition between work and play, and a wealth of innovative smart features. The GALAXY Core is a device that can operate seamlessly and effectively in all aspects of life," per Samsung's Press Release.
The Galaxy Core is an entry- to mid-level smartphone which packs in impressive features in its category. The smartphone sports a 4.3-inch WVGA TFT LCD display with 480 x 800 resolution. A 1.2 GHz dual core Application processor and 1GB of RAM powers the handset. The smartphone has 8GB of internal storage with the option to expand to a further 64GB using a microSD card.
The Galaxy Core is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a VGA front snapper. A 1800 mAh battery fuels the handset. The handset is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capable.
"Offering innovative mobile solutions to enhance the user experience, the GALAXY Core's smart features provide advanced tools that continue to set the GALAXY series apart. Utilizing human interactions including voice, movement, and optical commands, the GALAXY Core has a wide array of smart features," per the press release.
The handset runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The smartphone offers software features like Smart Stay, which recognizes when a user is looking at the phone, and saves battery life when a user looks away by dimming the screen and powering down using advanced facial recognition. The Smart Alert feature alerts the user of missed calls and messages when the device is picked up, and the Motion UI feature of the handset activates common functions such as refresh or mute with simple motion commands.
Samsung has not announced the availability and prices of the handset but its highly likely that the handset will release in Europe and Asia at a pocket-friendly price.
With so many entry- to mid-level smartphone already available in the market it will be interesting to see Samsung can entice customers to the Galaxy Core.
