Amidst the new changes in the latest Overwatch patch, the latest update also seems to include a new bug for D.Va. On the other hand, players with a certain Skill Rating (SR) will now have to play several games to keep their rank up.
Overwatch Patch Gives D.Va Another Bug
According to PVP Live, Mech fighter D.Va has an ability called the Defense Matrix, which acts as a shield of sorts that absorbs various projectiles. While it may not be similar to Reinhardt's shield or Zarya's bubble, it can absorb ultimates like Pharah's Rocket Barrage and Reaper's Death Blossom. Furthermore, the ability is also what makes the character a tank, aside from the fact that she has such a large health pool.
However, the latest patch brings in a new bug that allows players to shoot D.Va even while she has Defense Matrix up. The key to doing this is the hero that will be shooting the Korean character must stand behind his or her ally. One major example is if a Bastion hides behind a Reinhardt, it can shred D.Va with its bullets regardless if her ability is active.
Interestingly enough, it is worth noting that this update was supposed to even buff her matrix to absorb damage at point blank range. This change might have altered and caused a problem with her ability, hence her latest glitch. This is not the first time that D.Va was the target of a certain bug as her mech would explode and send her flying into oblivion during a 3v3 match in a previous patch.
Blizzard Combats Smurfing With New Competitive Feature
That aside, it seems like competitive players might have to invest more time in the game as those with 3,000+ SR will have to play at least seven games a week to maintain their rank, as per Kotaku. Keep in mind that skill decay is nothing new as players would have to play one competitive match a week if they were counted in the top three ranks. Even so, the latest patch intensifies the pressure as it seems like Blizzard wants to remove smurfing in the game.
As of now, Blizzard has yet to respond to the ongoing D.Va issue regarding her Defense Matrix. Although, it seems likely that they are already working on a fix for this. Fans can play Overwatch on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
